How does the process work?
The process of migrating a site directly from SiteLINK to a BizSync package is fairly straight forward, there's a six step process.
The time it takes to migrate a site from SiteLINK to a BizSync package can be different for each site. However, for most of the basic
SiteLINK sites its not uncommon to take 7 - 15 days to completion from the time you sign-up to the time you launch and go "Live".
The good news, you do not need to take your current SiteLINK site down, and you will not miss a day to down time. Here's how it works;
- Survey
Surveying your SiteLINK site is the process of reviewing and understanding how you've used SiteLINK. We need to know how you've
changed SiteLINK's code base and more importantly, reviewing and customizations that you've paid Dydacomp to modify your site. In most
cases we will be able to find functionality within X-Cart to support some of the modifications, but in some cases we can look towards a
3rd party module or plug-in to replicate some functionality that you paid for if its not in X-Cart.
- Usage Assessment
Assessment of your SiteLINK site consists of reviewing your design and determining your migration costs. For most SiteLINK sites,
the cost of migrating a design over to X-Cart starts at $750.00, however this can go increase depending on your customized features and the
complexity of your design.
Since SiteLINK customers rarely know how much traffic they've been getting on their site, you might be asked to show your last couple
SiteLINK invoices to display your SiteLINK level, or your visitor count. This will help us decide which plan you would will best be
placed in, if you're going with our BizSync™ On-Demand packages. Its at this phase of the process that we will also assess your
SEO positioning and determine where we can improve on your search engine visibility.
During the assessment phase we'll also look at your inventory and categories to see what functionality from MOM is required to sell
your products online and how you were using things through SiteLINK to sell your products.
- Migration
Migration can be both design migration and programming. At this phase, we're actually lifting your current design (or if you want a new
design) have you work with our designer on re-creating your site on X-Cart. This is a good time to improve on your sites ability to sell
to your customers. If you were having some particular issues in SiteLINK, the migration period is where we correct them and improve
on the browsing experience and shopping experience for your customers.
- Pre-Launch and Test
Before we launch your site, we take the time test and make sure we hit all the major function points that we addressed earlier in
the process. This is also the area that we setup your shipping, taxes and deal with any pricing related issues. We also do an end-to-end
synchronization and dry run through and train you on managing your new BizSync™
The pre-launch phase really is the time to reflect on the improvements you made over your prior SiteLINK site and to make sure your
investment in your new site is ready to be launched. The good news, as this is all going on, your existing SiteLINK site is still running
and you have not interupted your current operation
- Launch
To launch your new site and detach away from SiteLINK is rather easy. You make the change with your DNS provider or move your DNS control
to Freeportway so that we can make the change.
Once the site is launched it may take up to 48 hours for all the traffic that knows about your site to see the new site.
However, if done properly, before we launch the new site, we'll redirect traffic on the SiteLINK site
to your new site just in case (if we can!). It should be important to note that you may want to inform your customer base and market
your new site launch. This helps customers understand what you're doing, it also gives you a reason to drive customers to the site and
have them test as customers!
- Adjust and Measure
Even though we've launched your site, we're not done. If you're on a BizSync™ On-Demand or Support plan, you'll have the benefit of
technical support to help you through any problems or concerns. Further more, you'll be able to measure your sites performance and
traffic using our tools which we've setup for you. Google Analytics, Webalizer and various other reporting and analytic tools are
right at your finger tips to check your sites progress and to help you tune and optimize every aspect to ensure your getting the
best ROI.
- Maintenance and Support
